I came across this exceptional fan made trailer for Return to Oz from a fellow by the name of JohnnyHollow on youtube. Unlike the usual fan made trailers, this is something especially interesting, as the original promotional material tried to hide the fact that it was a rather dark film, leaving some very uninteresting trailers. I've seen a lot of trailers that re-cut children's films in order to make it appear scary, but I don't think I've ever seen one that shows what the film is actually like. It's an exciting, intriguing trailer that the film originally never had. I decided to buy the film on DVD, as I haven't seen it since I was a kid.
I mentioned Return to Oz in my post about scary children's films here, it was some very intense stuff for a child, and the pale man scene in Pan's Labyrinth reminded me of the scene where Dorothy is being chased down the tunnel by the wheelers in a way. It's kind of sad to think that the film was a flop at the time, but I'm glad that the trailer by JohnnyHollow has done it justice. I'm really looking forward to seeing it again.

hey karl thanks for the trailer! this was one of my favorite films as a kid (and prompted me to rip the heads off all of my mom's original barbies...oops!)
I think maybe people expected a sequel based on such a well-loved film to be hyped more. Instead it kind of quietly snuck into theaters. I saw it as an adult, years later, and as children's movies go, I think it's quiet good. I like the different look all the classic characters had.
Had a flashback when watching that- this was a movie that i had seen as a child, loved and completely forgotten about. Thanks a million for posting and reminding me!!
